THE SODA BOTTLE

 

Over decades, bottles are created as a packaging for soft drinks. These bottles appear in either plastic or glass materials; created with the aim to transport and perhaps to allow companies to advertise their branding on it surface. Pepsi Company is one of the few companies who have made a difference in their industry by looking into different sensory aspect, in order to further improve their consumer experiences. By revealing the analysis, PepsiCo realized their consumers have never truly understood the true experience of having a bottle or cola. They begin by looking into sensory aspect of scent, our olfactory system, the sensory system used for olfaction, or sense of smell. According to PesiCo, previously the experience is ruined instantly when their olfactory perception is not taken into consideration.

 

Therefore the PesiCo has patented a brilliant idea, quoted from an article from ScentWorld (2013), “PepsiCo has revealed a unique aroma delivery system that ensures the first thing you smell is always the product.”

 

In fact, most if not all bottled soda are designed the same way. Other then the external branding, the experience in drinking a bottle of soda is identical, PesiCo have certainly changed the experience in drinking a bottle of cola. The thought of including an addition sensorial experience to the bottle is indeed an excellent idea, and have certainly revolutionaries the industry.
